Agin Ki (アギン気), also known as Death Ki (デス・キ) or Anti-Ki (アンチキ) and can be viewed as, "Death Force Energy" is the anti form of Ki found in the Alterverse.

Agin-Ki functions as the opposing force of Ki within the Alterverse, serving as a reverse version of standard Ki, emerging from the Yin Realm, a place existing after death and spiritual reversal. Whereas regular Ki represents the energy of life, Agin-Ki embodies the energy existing beyond death, resulting from the natural process of Soul Decay. It isn't a distinct external power like God Ki but rather the ultimate state of Ki when a soul makes its way to the Yin Realm. Consequently, Agin-Ki presents a dual nature—it's like and unlike Ki, sharing similar functions but differing fundamentally.

Overview[]

Agin‑Ki serves as the primary energy source for beings native to the Yin Realm. Like standard Ki, it enhances strength, speed, endurance, and destructive capability, and it is stored within the soul of its user. However, drawing out Agin‑Ki requires significantly more time and discipline; the greater the reservoir, the longer it takes to fully manifest. The body and mind act as natural limiters—an untrained vessel cannot withstand the full force of Agin‑Ki without suffering internal damage or loss of control. Through rigorous training, a user can strengthen their body and sharpen their mind, allowing the soul to generate and contain a surplus of Agin‑Ki.

When the body is injured, Agin‑Ki leaks through wounds in the same way mortal Ki does, but with far more volatility. Severe injuries can cause massive outpourings of Agin‑Ki, and if the user’s mind is unstable, the energy can become feral and uncontrollable. Agin‑Ki is therefore a power that demands balance; the body, mind, and soul must remain aligned or the energy will consume the user from within.

Composition[]

Agin‑Ki mirrors the tri‑energy structure of regular Ki but in an inverted, Yin‑aligned form. It is composed of:

  • Genki; Energy generated passively through possessing a Soul
  • Anti-Yūki; Energy generated passively through using a Body native to the Yin Realm
  • Anti-Shōki; Energy generated passively through using a Mind native to the Yin Realm

Under the influence of LAW, these energies behave similarly to anti‑matter, forming an atomic‑like structure that parallels but opposes mortal Ki. Genki functions as the “neutron,” Anti‑Yūki as the “antiproton,” and Anti‑Shōki as the “positron.” While these parallels help conceptualize Agin‑Ki’s structure, the energy behaves very differently in practice, especially when interacting with the Yang Realm.

Appearance[]

Agin‑Ki is normally invisible, but when concentrated it manifests as an aura whose color varies between individuals. The most common hue is black, though any color on the visible spectrum is possible. Interestingly, beings with corrupt or inverted hearts display white auras, the opposite of the mortal Ki convention. The aura’s color can shift depending on the technique or transformation being used.

All Agin‑Ki users possess a distinctive Black Halo hovering above their head, a permanent marker of their Yin‑aligned state.

Auras[]

When Agin‑Ki is brought forth, it forms an aura that enhances the user’s natural abilities. The denser the aura, the more potent the amplification. Rare techniques can split the aura into two distinct layers, each representing different aspects of the user’s Agin‑Ki. At higher levels of power, Anti‑Shōki becomes unstable and begins to arc away from the aura in the form of sparks or lightning‑like flashes. These manifestations are known as Plasma Auras, a sign that the user’s Yin‑aligned mind is exerting force beyond its normal boundaries.

Soul Decay[]

Agin-Ki, a concept deeply intertwined with the Alterverse's unique structure and can only be fully comprehended by first grasping the essence of Soul Decay. This natural and fundamental process serves as the catalyst, orchestrating the transition of mortal Ki into its Yin-aligned counterpart. From the very moment a soul comes into existence, it embarks on a journey of gradual decay, a process that initially unfolds at a relatively gentle pace but accelerates with the accumulation of lifetimes. Souls that harbor substantial reserves of Ki exhibit a faster rate of decay, whereas those with lesser quantities of Ki undergo this transformation at a slower tempo. This pervasive decay not only undermines the efficiency of Ki cultivation but also places constraints on the soul's capacity to contain and manage energy.

Over the course of countless lifetimes, the majority of souls eventually reach a point of complete decay, ultimately leading to their erasure from existence. However, a select few demonstrate an extraordinary resilience, enduring the intricate transition from mortal Ki to the potent energy of Agin-Ki. In doing so, they enter a new plane of existence, embracing the concept of "Death." These remarkable beings are then reborn in the Yin Realm, where Agin-Ki becomes their innate and defining energy.

Immortals, beings who have defied the natural cycle of life and death, find themselves particularly susceptible to the effects of Soul Decay. Because they are perpetually excluded from the rejuvenating influence of the Other World, where their Ki would normally undergo cleansing, their artificially extended existence acts as a catalyst, dramatically escalating the rate of decay. Consequently, many immortals ultimately succumb to either the transformative power of Agin-Ki or, alternatively, the irreversible process of dissolution.

It's a fundamental fact that Agin-Ki and mortal Ki are incapable of coexisting within the same entity. They represent opposing forces, and any attempt to wield both simultaneously results in the immediate and devastating corrosion of the soul. This duality underscores the inherent nature of Agin-Ki and Ki, which both traverse the corresponding processes of decay within their respective realms.

Distinct Characteristics[]

Abilities[]

Within the Yin Realm, Agin-Ki functions in a manner comparable to mortal Ki, albeit with a noticeably colder and more substantial presence. Nevertheless, upon Agin-Ki's transition into the Yang Realm, a profound transformation occurs. The abundant Yang energy present in that realm acts as a catalyst, accelerating the natural process of Soul Decay and amplifying Agin-Ki to an exponential degree. This surge in power endows the user with capabilities far exceeding those they possess within their originating realm. This dramatic enhancement manifests as a visually disruptive, unstable Decaying Aura, which has a corrosive effect on the surrounding environment, causing noticeable signs of decay such as wilting vegetation, the fracturing of stone, and the general retrenchment of life forms.

When Agin-Ki engages in direct contact with mortal Ki, the two energies engage in a mutual annihilation, mirroring the interaction between matter and antimatter. However, the Decaying Aura provides Agin-Ki users with a considerable strategic edge in close-quarters combat, as it gradually erodes and weakens mortal Ki before it can fully materialize and be utilized effectively.

While Dense Ki demonstrates a greater capacity for resistance against Agin-Ki compared to standard Ki, owing to its inherently compressed structure, it is, nonetheless, eventually overwhelmed. Even God Ki, which is known for its exceptional resilience, cannot completely nullify the corrosive influence of Agin-Ki; it can only sustain itself for a prolonged period before succumbing to its effects.

Effects[]

When Agin-Ki crosses over into the Yang Realm, it throws the delicate equilibrium of the Alterverse into a state of profound disruption. This resulting imbalance doesn't remain localized; instead, it propagates outwards, affecting all interconnected realms within the multiverse, ranging from the ethereal Other World to the mystical Dragon Realm. This incurs metaphysical instability, causing a widespread deterioration and decay of the environment across these affected areas. The manifestations of LAW, known as the Pillars, possess an innate sensitivity to such disturbances in the cosmic balance. Upon sensing these alterations, the Pillars are intrinsically compelled to intervene, initiating actions aimed at restoring the Alterverse to a state of equilibrium. The consequences of this disruption, however, are not transient; they persist and endure until the root cause of the imbalance is either successfully neutralized or, alternatively, the source of the Agin-Ki is returned to its originating realm, the Yin Realm, thereby mending the rift and restoring harmony.
