Dragon Ball Super: The Lone Wolf Saga - also formerly known as Dragon Ball Oblivion, is an online fan-fiction written series created by ImperialWrath on March 1st, 2018. It takes place in an alternate universe, and centers on Yamcha and the sequence of events he endures during and immediately after the Tournament of Power arc of Dragon Ball Super.
Synopsis[]
Dragon Ball Super: The Lone Wolf saga occurs in an alternate timeline of the canon series, Dragon Ball Super, beginning during the midst of the Tournament of Power arc. As such, it contains significant differences, such as the history & appearance of the main antagonists and protagonists. Many of the characters featured are derived from filler sources, such as the Z movies and video games, and so maintain many of their character and personality traits. However, there are key differences in regards to character histories, and personal motivations. As such, it is written as something like a What-If story, though with more fleshed out details and action.
Divergence[]
- While the series takes place during Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power arc, the majority of events unfold away from Earth, primarily on planet Namek, but also on other worlds, both canon and non-canon.
- There are two original characters who feature in the story and play prominent, supporting roles in the story. Both are members from original species, and have fleshed out stories and unique abilities prominent to their species.
- Many of the antagonists of the series have altered backgrounds, though their personalities remain mostly the same as their in-series counterparts. One key example is the first antagonist, Mukade, who plays a role similar to that of Slug, the super Namekian from the 4th Z movie. Other examples include Turles, Cooler, Bojack, and Dr. Raichi.
- While some of the Kaioken variants in Dragon Ball Z Redux feature in this series, the series itself debuts a series of transformations utilized by the protagonist, Yamcha, as well as other characters later.
Story Arcs[]
Departure - begins immediately after team Universe 7 are transported to the Tournament of Power, and runs all the way through the events on Namek, culminating with the battle between Yamcha and Mukade.
Conflict - begins after the resolution of the battle between Yamcha and Mukade, and features the introduction of the first OC of the series, the Okurian, Lupine. It culminates in the battle between Turles and his Crusher Corps, and the destruction of the Tree of Might.
Invasion - begins after the resolution of the battle between Yamcha, Lupine, and the Namekians against Turles and his Crusher Corps. Features the first appearance of the series' main antagonist, Cooler, as well as the Tuffle scientist, Dr. Raichi, and Cooler's strongest soldiers, the Galaxy Warriors led by Bojack.
War - begins after the resolution of the battle between Yamcha, Lupine and the Namekians against Bojack and his Galaxy Warriors. Features the final confrontation between the two groups, as well as the battle between Yamcha and Cooler, and marks the first appearance of the Hyper Human transformation.
Ascendance - begins after the final battle between Yamcha and Cooler. Introduces a new world, planet Scion, and the mysterious galactic hermit who lives there, and details the final leg of Yamcha's journey and his return to Earth.
